What is Summer of Web 2008?

Summer of Web 2008 is a half-day conference created to bring the UF Web community together and back to Web basics. Food and drinks will be provided, and there will be several prize drawings.

Summer of Web's full intent is to bring speakers, both internal and external, to discuss the daily issues seen across the Web community. Topics will include the Print to Web initiative, effective writing for the Web, HTML and CSS development and the web site creation process.

Speakers will come from a variety of Web backgrounds including consultants, developers, instructors and communications specialists. Among the speakers are Web professional and Gator alumnus Carl Smith and other members of the nGen Works team, UF's associate vice president for marketing and public relations, Joe Hice, instructional designer Jennifer Smith, and expert CSS developer and author Christopher Schmitt.

When & Where?

The event will be on August 8th, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Emerson Alumni Hall Teaching Classroom.

We will also provide live video streaming and video archives for those who are unable to attend in person.

Who is attending?

This event is for University of Florida Web professionals of all types. If you are someone who writes content, moves pixels, develops Web applications or falls anywhere in between, you're welcome to attend — just make sure you RSVP as spaces are limited.

Update: Summer of Web has filled to capacity. Streaming video of the conference will be available online the day of the event.
