On-line Course Evaluations
A new enterprise class application to allow the collection of course and faculty evaluation for courses presented on-line or otherwise non-classroom based and not specifically distance education courses. It is based on an existing application in production use by the College of Business.
Project Meetings
- Time: Monday, 10:30 - 11:00
- Location: Room 301 OSG Conference Room, Bryan Hall/SSRB/CNS
- Details: A collaborative project team bringing together diverse experience and points of view to make a useful enterprise application solution.
Project Overview:
- Initial project meetings: February 2007
- Site: http://test.evaluations.ufl.edu
- Hosting: Provided by CNS-OSG with full production caliber hardware, software, monitoring, maintenance, and support.
- Features:
- Based on Office of Registrar data for sections, instructors and student enrollment.
- Role based use including faculty, student and administrators.
- Standard questions from Scantron sheets plus five more basic questions.
- Ability to add basic questions to evaluations for specific sections.
- Concept of sections belonging to special programs or cohorts.
- Integration with Office of Institutional Planning and Research processes.
- Evaluations may open and close on any date.
- Evaluation summary results including short answer are available to professors on any date after evaluation closes.
- All responses are anonymous.
- Provides list of email addresses for students who have not submitted responses. May be used to send emails to encourage participation.
- Reporting provides overview statistics of participation as well as response distribution.

This project is supported by Office of the CIO, CNS-OSG, Web Administration, Office of Institutional Research and Planning, Career Resource Center, College of Education, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and College of Business. The Office of the Registrar also contributed.
Beta Pilots
- April 24, 2007 - Spring term, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (IFAS) and College of Education provided 4 courses, 7 sections. Approximately 360 students submitted evaluations.
- June 18, 2007 - Summer A term: College of Education plans to use the system for 15 courses. We will begin to train college evaluation administrators. Sign up to participate by sending email to webmaster@ufl.edu
- July 15, 2007 (estimate) - Summer C term: College of Nursing may join the beta pilot with one course. Sign up to participate by sending email to webmaster@ufl.edu
